Top graduate students from across the nation will be participating in a climate change simulation competition on Saturday, Feb. 27, 2016 at eight regional sites. The University of Virginia Frank Batten School of Leadership and Public Policy is hosting graduate students from the Mid-Atlantic and Southern regions of the country. Participating schools include UVA, Brandeis University, the College of William & Mary, Duke University, University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill, Virginia Commonwealth University, Virginia Tech and more.
Students will be provided competition materials to review 48 hours in advance of the competition. Upon arrival at UVA, the students will join teams and use computer-assisted modeling to address the problem. Through the use of systems thinking and teamwork, the students will propose viable solutions to international climate change, much like the United Nations sponsored Paris 2015 Conference (COP21). The winning proposal among all regional sites will be decided by the Network of Schools of Public Policy, Affairs and Administration (NASPAA), the competition sponsor.
