About
Jon is the director of development for the Batten School and has worked in University-affiliated development roles since 2018. He focuses on building relationships with donors, alumni, and other stakeholders to advance the philanthropic priorities of the Batten School and Dean Ian H. Solomon, focusing on major gifts development and overall alumni participation. Jon also oversees coordination with other schools and units by working within UVA External Relations. In the 2024-25 fiscal year, Batten achieved its highest single-year donor count in school history and its largest single-year fundraising total since 2020-21.
Prior to joining Batten, Jon worked at the Virginia Athletics Foundation as director of major gifts, where he built highly successful sport-specific fundraising programs for baseball, women’s rowing, and men’s and women’s squash. He also previously worked at the College Foundation of UVA as an associate director of development where he oversaw three volunteer boards, led fundraising for the unrestricted College Fund, and maintained a major gift portfolio on a regional basis.
Alongside his development experience within the University of Virginia, Jon also brings six years of prior experience in political campaigns, political fundraising, and institutional grant-seeking.
Jon is a 2010 graduate of UVA’s College of Arts & Sciences (government, economics) and lives in Charlottesville with his wife, Maddie – who is a proud double ‘Hoo (BSN ’16, MSN-PNP ’23). When he is away from his work, you can expect to find Jon at the gym, listening to a sports or politics podcast, cheering on the Green Bay Packers, or catching up on binge-worthy TV with Maddie and Avon – their exceedingly friendly tortoiseshell cat.
